So it's ok for them to "brainwash" kids and put them on as actors in an ad about "being confused," but it's not OK for a child to plan his own rally and develop his own speech and posters? After watching these videos side-by-side, I think it's clear which children are being TOLD to say something, and which one is acting of his own volition and independent thought. Of course Ethan has been influenced by his family and their values, but its also clear that he's thinking on his own during that interview. It seems that some people cannot fathom the possibility that a child might be able to recognize discrimination for what it is and feel strongly enough about it to stand up against it.</content><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/8940979667756321870/4953647839016593956/comments/default/75845137318300583'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/8940979667756321870/4953647839016593956/comments/default/75845137318300583'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://www.fourthwavefeminism.com/2009/05/children-are-our-futurebut-which-future.html?showComment=1242833708611#c75845137318300583' title=''/><author><name>AD Miller</name><uri>http://www.blogger.com/profile/15495498223795502691</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image xmlns:gd='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005' rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='16' height='16' src='http://img2.blogblog.com/img/b16-rounded.gif'/></author><thr:in-reply-to xmlns:thr='http://purl.org/syndication/thread/1.0' href='http://www.fourthwavefeminism.com/2009/05/children-are-our-futurebut-which-future.html' ref='tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8940979667756321870.post-4953647839016593956' source='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/8940979667756321870/posts/default/4953647839016593956' type='text/html'/><gd:extendedProperty xmlns:gd='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005' name='blogger.itemClass' value='pid-443221201'/></entry></feed>
